Two-Facebook
BarefootAndProgressive has discovered Mitch McConnell's (R-Kentucky) Facebook page. But be careful not to thank him for his service to our country. He doesn’t take some compliments too kindly.
Inconvenient troops
Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) clashes with a veteran on veteran’s issues.
The Hill reports that John McCain hasn't been at all helpful to down-ballot campaigns. Why wouldn't McCain want to make his presidency a little easier by supporting Republican candidates for the House and Senate? Personal grudges. That's right, Cindy McCain isn't the only one with a grudge list. As one Republican opponent in 1982 put it, John McCain holds a grudge "forever and ever."
Kentucky: Mitch McConnell has taken to calling his opponent for Senate seat "Bruce the goose" though Kentuckians don’t necessarily take that badly.
Maine: We’ve found the video of Susan Collins pledging to only serve two terms in the Senate, now that she’s running for her third term.
The DSCC has released a viral web video pointing out Collins’ definitely-not-moderate voting record.
Minnesota: Norm Coleman’s voting record shows he’s out of touch on education.
New Hampshire: Sununu spokesperson claims the Senator has voted with New Hampshire 100% of the time. Debunked on BlueHampshire.com.
John Sununu also pushing lies about Cuban drilling of the coast of Florida.
Texas: File this one under "Sock puppet bites Senator." Cornyn paid staffer, David Beckwith, was found to be posting under a pseudonym on liberal blogs and news sites. In one post he acknowledges that David Beckwith deserves a raise and a promotion. The story made television news in Austin. See the video here.
Unless you live with your parents, you couldn't have a cosier relationship with your landlord than Norm Coleman. Edward T. Pound of National Journal Magazine reports the terms of Coleman's accomodations in the Washington DC home of Republican operative Jeff Larson. While by no means opulent, the arrangement seems very favorable to Coleman and suggests a fair amount of mutual back-scratching. Larson says he is "merely trying to meet my mortgage," but I can't imagine a bank accepting the furniture Coleman offered in lieu of one month's rent.
In his latest ad, Roadblock Republican Gordon Smith contrives an endorsement from Barack Obama from the mere mention of his name on Obama's Senate website. Here's the ad:
You could almost feel sorry for Elizabeth Dole. Having staked out and established a sensible stance on off-shore drilling, George Bush and John McCain have forced the clay-footed Senator Dole to shift her position.
If you haven't heard of Montana's Republican senatorial nominee Bob Kelleher, it's no accident. On Friday, the Montana GOP wouldn't even give Kelleher five minutes in their state convention program to address its 400 delegates. Instead, Republican chairman Erik Iverson provided Kelleher a side room for an hour during the afternoon.
Take a good look at this video. Is there something odd about it? Does Laurie Coleman seem to shrink? Is the Coleman kitchen oddly tilted and strangely lit? Why doesn't Norm look directly at Laurie, or she at him, while they're in the shot together?
