U.S. policy can't discourage plucky, lying oil stooge/Senate candidate
Bob Schaffer's, claim that he didn't receive any discouragement from selling out American interests in Iraq by negotiating oil contracts with local governments (as opposed to the Iraqi national government) is being contradicted by the documented evidence.
Four cents too much
Mitch McConnell's (R-Kentucky) campaign has cashed a check for four cents, made out to "The Lipless Wonder Mitch McConnell."
May the Invisible Hand slap them both
Turns out that John Sununu (R-New Hampshire) has been grooming himself for years to replace his favorite former senator, Mr. Mental Recession himself, free-marketeer Phil Gramm. Explains why he doesn't want mortgage regulation and why he thinks that healthcare is expensive because it's "worth it," but not why he votes to subsidize oil companies with federal dollars.
Not funny
Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) has asked President Bush to commute the sentences of two border patrol agents who shot an unarmed illegal immigrant in "self-defense."
Soft on child porn
A bill that would have strongly prohibited child pornography, supported ALS, stroke, and paralysis research, and investigate murders during the civil rights era is being obstructed by Republicans. Those voting against the Advancing America's Priorities Act are Lamar Alexander (R-Tennessee), Saxby Chambliss (R-Georgia), "moderate" Susan Collins (R-Maine), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), Jimmy Inhofe (R-Oklahoma), Mitch "Obstructionist in Chief" McConnell (R-Kentucky), Pat Roberts (R-Kansas), Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama), and Ted Stevens (R-Alaska).
