You may recall during the furor over McCain's relationship with lobbyist Vicki Iseman that it was a McConnell directed deposition from 2002 that contradicted the McCain campaign's assertion that no representative of Paxson or Alcalde & Fay personally asked Senator McCain to send a letter to the FCC.

Now with John McCain and the House GOP pushing for a freeze on earmarks in their hope of gaining an advantage over Democrats in the 2008 election, McConnell has appointed a five member task force on the issue. Their task -- scuttle the proposed freeze on earmarks.

Joe Sonka at ditchmitchky.com predicted that McConnell would take the opportunity to "screw" McCain, and it appears Sonka was correct. McConnell has asked the task force to report only unanimous recommendations, and given their range of views, they won't offer McCain or House Republicans much fiscal responsibility on which to run.
